Calendar<\/strong><\/b><\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">Academic calendar shall mean a list of academic activities arranged in a chronological order for one academic year.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">Without prejudice to the School of Medicine and other academic units using a system of annual rather than semester course offerings, modular course offerings, as well as continuing and distance education programs, a normal semester at the University shall be 16 weeks of classes plus one week break before exams, and a summer\/kiremt semester of 8-12 weeks.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">At the University, a regular academic year commences on September and ends on June.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">Summer semesters shall begin on July 01 and end on September 7.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">In summer semesters, students shall only be carrying \u2026 _ of the normal semester load.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">The duration of modular course offerings shall depend upon the ECTS\/credit assigned to every modular course.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">The duration of semesters for special in-service programs shall be determined according to the needs of every such program.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">The Calendar for each year shall be prepared by the University Registrar in consultation with the AVP and approved by the Senate.<\/p>                    <\/div>\n\t\t        \n                    <div id=\"academic-programs-tab\" class=\"clearfix eael-tab-content-item inactive\" data-title-link=\"academic-programs-tab\">\n\t\t\t\t        <p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Academic Programs<\/strong><\/b><\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Undergraduate Programs<\/strong><\/b><\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">There are three categories of Academic programs offered at AAU: first degree (B.Sc. or B.A.), second degree (M.Sc. or M.A.) and third degree (Ph.D.). Specialty certificates are also given for those who have an M.D and served for a reasonable period of time. Specialty certificates are given under the College of Health Sciences. Currently, the following\u00a0<a class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__link\" href=\"http:\/\/admission.aau.edu.et\/UndergraduateProgramsOnly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Undergraduate programs<\/strong><\/b><\/a><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0are available in the different colleges and institutes of the AAU.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Graduate Program<\/strong><\/b><\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">The University offers programs of study and research leading to Master of Arts (M.A.), Master of Education (M.Ed.), Master of Science (M.Sc.), Master of Law (LL.M), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and similar other graduate degrees as well as programs leading to specialty and sub-specialty certificates in medicine or other similar programs. The following\u00a0\u00a0<a class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__link\" href=\"http:\/\/admission.aau.edu.et\/GraduateProgramsOnly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Graduate programs<\/strong><\/b><\/a>\u00a0are available in the different colleges and institutes of AAU.<\/p>                    <\/div>\n\t\t        \n                    <div id=\"registration-tab\" class=\"clearfix eael-tab-content-item inactive\" data-title-link=\"registration-tab\">\n\t\t\t\t        <p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Registration<\/strong><\/b><\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">After a student is admitted to one of the programs of the university, the next thing to do is registration for a set of modules\/courses.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">A student who fails to maintain continuous registration without officially withdrawing from a program shall be considered to have dropped out of the program.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">Registration takes place in the college\/institute\/school registrar office.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">During registration, students should observe the following registration rules and procedures:<\/p><ul class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__ul\"><li class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__listItem\" value=\"1\">A student, whose application for admission to a program is accepted, can be registered according to the academic calendar.<\/li><li class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__listItem\" value=\"2\">The registration slips should be completed and signed by the advisor.<\/li><\/ul>                    <\/div>\n\t\t        \n                    <div id=\"academic-matters-tab\" class=\"clearfix eael-tab-content-item inactive\" data-title-link=\"academic-matters-tab\">\n\t\t\t\t        <div class=\"w-full items-center justify-center flex\"><div class=\" w-full text-center lg:text-left max-w-[1000px] self-center\"><div class=\"\"><h2 class=\"text-[22px] md:text-2xl mt-2 md:mt-3 text-left  text-gray-800 \n           mb-12\n               relative inline-block font-semibold\">Academic Matters<\/h2><div class=\"flex absolute left-0 -bottom-2 md:-bottom-4 items-center\"><div class=\"h-[3px] md:h-[4px] bg-red-300 w-6 md:w-8\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"mx-1 md:mx-2\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"h-[3px] md:h-[4px] bg-blue-300 w-16 md:w-24\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-full items-center flex flex-col max-w-full md:max-w-none\"><div class=\" sm:text-justify overflow-hidden w-full text-[17px] text-gray-900 leading-8 max-w-full xl:max-w-[1010px] 2xl:w-6xl \"><div class=\"TextEditor_myTextEditor__bB1em break-words w-full\"><h3 class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__h3\" dir=\"ltr\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Semester Load for Undergraduate Regular (Non-Clinical) Students<\/strong><\/b><\/h3><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">1.\u00a0The minimum workload required for undergraduate regular student shall be 30 ECTS per semester and the maximum shall not exceed 35 ECTS. The relevant VP office shall provide a rule to accommodate the pace of special need students.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">2.\u00a0\u00a0A student with CGPA of 2.50 or above and wishing to deviate from sub-Article <a class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__link\" href=\"https:\/\/aau.edu.et\/pages\/Admission\/detail?title=Academic~Cases#_bookmark113\">90.1<\/a> requirement shall obtain a special permission from the head of the department in which he is doing his major work, or from the executive dean of his college, and approved by the AC. Instructors shall monitor the student\u2019s academic performance by keeping track of records.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">2.\u00a0Examinations may be oral, written or practical, depending on the nature of the module\/course. However, in those cases where examinations are conducted orally, a written record of the student\u2019s performance and the basis for the determination of grades shall be kept by the instructor.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>                    <\/div>\n\t\t        \n                    <div id=\"discontinuing-study-tab\" class=\"clearfix eael-tab-content-item inactive\" data-title-link=\"discontinuing-study-tab\">\n\t\t\t\t        <div class=\"w-full items-center justify-center flex\"><div class=\" w-full text-center lg:text-left max-w-[1000px] self-center\"><div class=\"\"><h2 class=\"text-[22px] md:text-2xl mt-2 md:mt-3 text-left  text-gray-800 \n           mb-12\n               relative inline-block font-semibold\">Discontinuing Study<\/h2><div class=\"flex absolute left-0 -bottom-2 md:-bottom-4 items-center\"><div class=\"h-[3px] md:h-[4px] bg-red-300 w-6 md:w-8\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"mx-1 md:mx-2\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"h-[3px] md:h-[4px] bg-blue-300 w-16 md:w-24\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-full items-center flex flex-col max-w-full md:max-w-none\"><div class=\" sm:text-justify overflow-hidden w-full text-[17px] text-gray-900 leading-8 max-w-full xl:max-w-[1010px] 2xl:w-6xl \"><div class=\"TextEditor_myTextEditor__bB1em break-words w-full\"><h2 class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__h2\" dir=\"ltr\">Discontinuing Study<\/h2><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Dismissal<\/strong><\/b><\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">A student may be forced to discontinue his\/her study because of academic reasons for at least one semester. One of these academic reasons is a \u201cdismissal\u201d status of a student. Such type of discontinuity may allow a readmission in which a student will be readmitted to repeat the modules\/courses he\/she failed. A student with a \u201cdismissal\u201d status should formally withdraw from the university.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Dropout<\/strong><\/b><\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">Students dropping out from the University must consult their academic advisors and explain why they wish to drop out. Students dropping out from the University for inadequate reasons will be denied readmission.<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Withdrawal<\/strong><\/b><\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">Any student who wants to discontinue his study should formally withdraw and complete Withdrawal Form (or clearance)\u00a0<b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">within 8 weeks<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0after the beginning of the semester.
