The E-Learning Management Unit Directorate, established in July 2021, provides strategic leadership in planning, coordinating, and implementing digital learning initiatives throughout Dire Dawa University. It integrates educational technologies into teaching, learning, and academic services — collaborating closely with colleges, departments, and ICT units to support online, blended, and technology-enhanced learning across the university.
I. Main Objectives
Strengthen online and blended learning systems across the university
Promote innovative and technology-supported teaching methods
Enhance digital competencies of academic staff, administrative staff, and students
Support the development of high-quality digital course content
Ensure effective management of e-learning platforms — Open edX and Salesforce
Improve accessibility and flexibility of education through digital learning solutions
II. Main Focus Areas
Provides continuous training programs for academic staff, ICT and registrar personnel, and students — including Open edX Studio master classes, Success Suite training for students, and LMS/SIS administration sessions for ICT and registrar staff.
Supports design and development of high-quality digital content for blended, fully online, and short-term programs — including video lectures, digital modules, online assessments, multimedia presentations, and interactive educational resources.
Administers the Open edX LMS for online and blended course delivery, manages the Salesforce Student Information System, and oversees the university multimedia studio for recording video lectures and producing digital learning materials.
